Dear PWCS Family:
This fall, the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test – Third Edition (NNAT3) will be administered to Grades 2, 6 and 9 students in Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS). We want to take this opportunity to provide you with some information about this test and why it is administered.
The NNAT3 is used to assess the development of reasoning and problem-solving skills in students as part of our universal screening process for Gifted Education. During this test, students are asked to solve a series of non-verbal logic problems, which provides them with an opportunity to demonstrate reasoning skills without relying on language. NNAT3 is a 30 minute test that will be administered at your student’s school sometime between October 19, 2026, and November 20, 2026. NNAT3 results will be used in combination with other classroom achievement information to assist us in understanding the learning strengths and needs of students, so that our staff can design the most effective instructional plan for them.
The best way to prepare your student for this test is to simply encourage them to do their best. When results are available, a copy of your student’s scores will be sent to you.
If you have questions about NNAT3, please contact your student’s school directly.
Sincerest regards,
Paul F. Parker, Ph.D.
Supervisor of Testing
