Next Club Meeting: Tuesday, April 17, 2018, 2:30-3:45 p.m. in Room 1201/Giampapa.
Nokesville Day: Sat., May 19, 2018, 9-4 p.m. – This is an annual event, and much anticipated by the community. We need MANY volunteers, and all club members are encouraged to attend. We walk in the parade as a Club (around 11 a.m.). This is also an opportunity for us to raise funds for our Club. Please set this day aside, and spend as many hours as possible participating in this event.
“There is Strength in Numbers” – NEW DATE: Sunday, June 10th, 2-5p, PHS Stadium – Alex’s Army (www.alexsarmyccf.org) is hosting this community event to promote awareness of pediatric cancer and raise funds for pediatric cancer research. This is a Guinness World Record event: 2,000++ members of the community will join to perform push-ups on the PHS Stadium for 1 minute. A Recorder from Guinness World Records will be present. Our Club will meet inside the front gate, left side, at 3 p.m. to take group pictures and get ourselves organized on the field before the push-ups begin directly at 4p. Please wear your PHS Ruri-Teen Club (other other RED PHS) t-shirt to the event!
Additionally, Alex’s Army has a goal to raise $50,000 for pediatric cancer research. DID YOU KNOW that only 4% of all research money goes towards pediatric cancer research?? All funds raised for this event will be designated to pediatric cancer research. Patriot HS Ruri-Teen Club has committed to raise $250.00 by June 10th. “Clean The Bay Day! – Sat., June 2, 10-1 p.m., Leesylvania State Park (http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/park-event-info?id=LE180031-00) – Our Club Secretary, and selected member of the Ian Somerhalder Youth foundation (ISF Youth), Kamryn F., is organizing a group of volunteers to participate in this annual effort to clean the Chesapeake Bay by removing trash from its tributary rivers and streams. We will concentrate on the beach of the Potomac River, as well as Neabsco Creek & Powells Creek. February Club Meeting: will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of February, Feb. 13, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. in Room 1201. Our service project will be to pack lunches for homeless students in Prince William County via Calling All Souls. IF you are able to donate food items for these lunch bags, please sign up! We will have an Uncrustable sandwich, fruit, chip/cracker, snack cake, and bottle of water for each bag. We will also make Valentine's/Friendship Day cards for each bag as well. See you then!!
ATTENTION SENIOR MEMBERS!!
Our Club, as well as the other (3) Ruritan youth clubs that are sponsored by The Nokesville-Bristow Ruritan Club, participate in the Build Your Dollars (BY$) Grant Program through Ruritan National each year. This BY$ grant is available to one Senior PHS student per youth Club. If you would like to be considered for this BY$ grant, please submit your completed application NO LATER THAN Monday, February 26, 2018. Applications can be found in the Document Container below. Please contact Mrs. Fyock (fyockk@pwcs.edu) with any questions.
January Club Meeting: will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 2:30 p.m. in Room 1201. See you then!! **Please remember that the wreath clean-up for Wreaths Across America event is happening on Saturday, Jan. 20th from 9-12 p.m. Many volunteers are needed!! If you are able, all members are encouraged to participate!
DECEMBER Meeting:
Tuesday, Dec. 19th, 2:30-3:45 p.m., Room 1201/Giampapa. We will be 1-preparing, 2-filling, and 3-packing by family holiday stockings for 12+ kids/teens in four families. We will also make holiday cards for each stocking (12) and family (4), and pack a movie/game night basket for each family as well. A SignUp Genius is available to donate items for our project. Again, you may earn service/volunteer hours for your donations (ask Mrs. Fyock).
AS AN EXTRA OPPORTUNITY: We have (4) families that we are supporting. Two "Giving Families" have volunteered to support two of the families with a gift for each child: Family #1 (teen mother and infant) and Family #4 (6 kids/teens). IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN PROVIDING AN INDIVIDUAL GIFT FOR THE REMAINING TWO FAMILIES w/2 KIDS EACH, PLEASE LET MRS. FYOCK KNOW ASAP: Family #2 - (1) teen girl, (1) 9-yr. girl; Family #3 - (1) teen girl, (1) 13-yr. boy. There is no expectation, so any appropriate gift is much appreciated. You will receive (2) volunteer hours donating this additional gift.
Holiday Celebration and Dues: We will celebrate the holidays and the service we have provided in 2017 with some food and goodies! If you would like to bring something to share with your Club, please let Mrs. Fyock know. Also, if you haven't already, please bring $10 annual Club Dues to this meeting. Dues must be paid in order to be added to the official National Club Roster and to be recognized at the May, 2018 meeting.

NEXT Meeting: We need all "hands on deck" at our Tues., 11/21 Club meeting in Room 1201, 2:30-3:45 p.m. (we may end earlier). We will be packing our Thanksgiving meal boxes for PHS families in need. PLEASE sign up to donate your food items for these boxes - the link for SignUp Genius is below. All items can be dropped off in Ms. G's Room anytime between now and 11/21...there is a box inside her doorway. We need your help to make this project a success!

Upcoming Service Projects: as of 9/27/17
St. Thomas UMC Food Pantry - Volunteers are needed EVERY Saturday, 9-12 noon, and you must be signed up in advance. This is an amazing service project to be part of, and you will be glad you participated! You must commit to the entire 3-hour block - no drop-ins are permitted. Please let Mrs. Fyock know if you are interested.
Fall Festival, Sat., Oct. 28th, 8:30-3:30 p.m. - Fall Festival, featuring Brunswick Stew, at Windy Knoll Farms, Nokesville, hosted by the Nokesville-Bristow Ruritan Club. This is an annual, community outreach event, and MANY volunteers are needed to make this successful day! If you are able to give 2+ hours during any part of the day, there is a place for you to serve. We will do things like: prepare, package, and sell stew, work in the All-You-Can-Eat Brunswick Stew Cafe', run games, sell tickets, host a PWC 4-H Table "selling" **wreaths for "Wreaths Across America," set-up, clean-up, etc. We need volunteers! :-) NOTE: October 28th is national "Make a Difference Day!" Your service definitely makes a difference!!
Adopt-a-Stream, Sat., Nov. 4th, 9-11 a.m. - We will meet in the parking lot of Grace Life Community Church on Linton Hall Road, and spend 2 hours cleaning up trash, etc. along Broad Run Creek. Many volunteers are needed.
"Wreaths Across America", Sat., Dec. 16th, 9-12 noon - We will meet at Arlington National Cemetery and lay wreaths on the graves of fallen soldiers. This is an amazing event to be part of, and a beautiful sight to see, especially upon completion! If needed, we can arrange carpools, etc. Please contact Mrs. Fyock if you are interested in participating. Interest/Kick-Off Meeting: Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2:30-3:30 p.m. - We had a great first meeting, a start to a promising year in service to others. May Club Meeting - This is the final Club meeting of the 2016-17 school year!! We will meet at 2:15 p.m. in Room 1201/Giampapa. ALL Club members are requested to attend. We will follow our agenda, hold elections, have presentations, enjoy our end-of-year celebration, and complete a service project. The meeting will end no later than 4 p.m. Please feel free to bring goodies to share, if you are able.
April Club Meeting - will be held on Wednesday, April 27th at 2:30 p.m. We are meeting in Room 1201 (Ms. Giampapa) until 3:45 p.m. Members: Please bring non-perishable food items, Club dues (if not yet paid), and a treat to share, as you are able. See you tomorrow!

February Club Meeting - on Valentine's Day, Tues., Feb. 14th. Adopt-a-Highway - Saturday, March 25th, 2017, 9-11 a.m. Meet in the parking lot at BDHS. This is a great way to earn hours. There is plenty to do in a short amount of time. Many volunteers are needed. Please participate in this project, if you are able.
Adopt-a-Stream - In honor of Earth Day, we are joining the Nokesville-Bristow Ruritan Club to do some stream clean-up. Saturday, April 22, 2017, 9-11 a.m. Please meet in the parking lot of Grace Life Community Church on Linton Hall Road. Please participate in this project, if you are able.
IMPORTANT!! PHS Ruri-Teen Club Yearbook Photo is happening TOMORROW, Wed., Jan. 25, 2017 at 9:50 a.m. in the Auditorium. Ms. G/Room 1201, has passes ready for you on her desk NOW. Please stop by and pick one up asap. Please wear your Club t-shirt, OR a RED PHS t-shirt, for the photo. Officers should be organized in the front/middle of the group in the picture. I just learned of this now, so my apologies for the short notice! Spread the word to other Club members.

Groundhog Benefit Dinner - The Nokesville-Bristow Ruritan Club is sponsoring a benefit dinner on Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Cedar Point Elementary School. Volunteers are needed from 4-8 p.m. for various jobs (e.g., set-up, serving, clearing, cooking?, clean-up, etc.). This is a great way to provide community service and to EARN HOURS!! Please let Mrs. Fyock know if you are able to participate! All proceeds will go to the Farina Family, whose house burned down just before Christmas.

Annual Ruritan Fall Festival - Volunteers Needed!
The Nokesville-Bristow Ruritan Club is sponsoring it's annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 29th, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Windy Knoll Farms in Nokesville. Many volunteers are needed, and the Ruri-Teen Club always provides much needed assistance. Several volunteers have already signed up, but there are lots more available positions. If you are available to participate for an hour or more, please sign up by emailing Ms. Fyock (kfyock70@gmail.com), Ms. Melusen (cgmelusen@comcast.net), or by signing up during your club meeting. Individually-wrapped baked goods are also needed, and you will receive 1 hour of community service for each 2 dozen items you donate. Baked goods must be dropped off at Windy Knoll Farms no later than 10:30 a.m. on October 29th. Please sign up if you plan to bring a baked good.
Be sure to tell your friends and family about this fantastic community outreach event - there will be fun and food and vendors for all. The Nokesville-Bristow Ruritan Club will also be preparing their FAMOUS Brunswick Stew, available: 1) in pre-order, 2) first-come/first-serve at the Festival, and 3) in the All-You-Can-Eat Cafe' during the Fall Festival! Don't miss this delicious treat - AND come out and have a great Fall Festival Day!!

2016 Apples & Apple Cider Sales 5th Annual Club Fundraiser
Back again, by popular demand - fresh-picked apples and fresh-pressed apple cider, direct from the orchard on the day of distribution! This is our ONLY main fundraiser each club year. No change in last-year's pricing or delicious quality and taste! Help support your club by filling orders with your friends and family TODAY! All paid order forms should be submitted by Monday, October 24th - Pick-Up Day is Thursday, October 27th, from 3:45-6 p.m. in the Cedar Point ES Cafeteria.

Adopt-a-Stream: Sat., 10/15/16, 9-11 a.m.
If you are available to help, and interested in earning two hours of community service, plan to participate in the Adopt-a-Stream project on Saturday, 10/15, 9-11 a.m. A group will be meeting in the parking lot of Grace Life Community Church on Linton Hall Road, Bristow, just before 9 a.m., and the project will complete no later than 11 a.m. Please email cgmelusen@comcast.net to sign up!
