We believe the learning environment that has been created in this building has been matched with an instructional staff that allows students to excel. Our instructional and support staff work diligently to provide the optimal learning environment for our students.
About Me
I have been a high school administrator for 18 years, with this being my 16th as a principal. I was appointed as the principal of Patriot in April 2010 and assumed my duties on July 1, 2010. I have been in education for 32 years, having started my career in Stafford County. I worked as a teacher and administrator at two other new schools (Hanover High in 2003 and Cosby High in 2006). I taught AP US History prior to becoming an administrator and have been blessed to be able to continue to teach through the George Washington University (GWU) as an adjunct professor.
I have a BS in Secondary Education from Youngstown State University, an MA in Educational Administration from GWU, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from GWU. The focus of my doctoral dissertation was the impact that a new high school has on student achievement, student and staff attitudes, and behaviors. I finished my doctoral research in 2009 using three new high schools in the state of Virginia. I also completed a certification program through San Diego State University and CEFPI to become a certified educational facility planner.
My wife and I are the proud parents of three boys.
About Patriot
Our school offers multiple Specialty programs for students to choose from: AP Scholars, Building Trades, Culinary Arts, TV Production, and Early Childhood Education. The building was designed to optimize student learning and provide a comfortable, safe, and secure environment for students to learn.
Our school's success is because we have selected leaders, educators, and staff members who have helped to create a 21st-century high school. Patriot High School and the community it serves help to produce young adults who possess the academic, social, and community skills that demonstrate an essential knowledge of the world in which we live. We maintain high expectations and provide opportunities for students to excel in academic, career and technical-related course work, as well as real-life programs such as Building Trades and Project Lead the Way.
We will always encourage students to develop their full leadership potential, demonstrate integrity in their actions, understand the importance of character, and consistently display pride: pride in their accomplishments, community, and school.
