Parking on Campus
Parking Locations

Students may only park in those areas designated as student parking. Violators may be warned, disciplined, or possibly towed.
Teacher and Staff
Teachers and Staff have designated parking areas around campus found primarily in the front of the building and to the rear. The diagram below highlights these areas for easy identification.

Student Parking
Only licensed students with a valid parking pass are permitted to park their vehicle on Patriot High School’s campus during school hours. Student parking is divided into two general areas, Senior Parking and Junior/Underclass Parking. These areas are illustrated in the diagram below.

Visitor and Handicap Parking
Patriot High School has designated areas for visitors to park during the school day. These locations are primarily located near the main entrance of the school at door 1. There are handicap accessible parking available to visitors as well, which are highlighted in the diagram depicted below.

DRIVING ON CAMPUS
Our goal at Patriot High School is to keep the orderly flow of traffic moving efficiently and safely through campus. Faculty, Staff, Students, and Visitors are required to obey all posted signs and established traffic patterns.
Traffic Patterns
Morning Arrivals:
To help alleviate traffic congestion on Sudley Manor Drive, Vint Hill Road, and Kettle Run Road; we ask all drivers to follow the traffic patterns below during morning arrivals between 06:50 AM and 07:30 AM. Parents and private transport will not be able to enter Patriot High School’s main entrance to access the drop-off loop between 06:50 AM - 07:30 AM. This entrance will be blocked by traffic cones to prevent head on traffic issues. Patriot High School recommends all drivers to leave home early to arrive at school on time and prevent unexcused tardies.
Student drivers:
- Students who drive themselves to school will enter campus through the main entrance of Patriot High School.
- Underclassmen will immediately turn to the right as they enter campus. This access point to the underclass lot is controlled by a gate which opens at 05:45 AM each school day. This gate is closed and locked after the tardy bell at 07:30 AM each school day.
- Seniors will proceed straight upon entering campus and will access their parking area between the school building and the stadium.
Parents and private transport (Uber/Lyft) drop-offs
- Parents and private transport will bypass the main entrance to Patriot High School and enter campus via the T. Clay Wood Elementary School entrance.
- Drivers will keep to the right and form two lines (center lane and right lane) as they approach Patriot High School.
- As drivers approach the entrance to the drop off loop, they should refrain from stopping directly in front of door 1; instead, proceed as far as possible to door 3 before stopping the vehicle and allowing their student to exit. Using the entire curbline allows for more students to be dropped off at a time.
- Once your student has exited, safely continue through the drop-off loop and make a right-hand turn toward T. Clay Wood Elementary.
- Parents and private transport will exit the campus through the T. Clay Wood entrance.
Afternoon Dismissal:
To ensure that an orderly exit from the campus takes place, Patriot High School requests all drivers to adhere to the information below. When available, Patriot High School’s School Resource Officer will assist with traffic control and direction at the main entrance to the campus on Kettle Run Road. Parents and Private Transport should not enter Patriot High School’s main entrance during afternoon dismissal, 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Parents and private transport should utilize the T. Clay Wood entrance and follow the morning arrival/drop-off protocol.
Student drivers:
- When moving from the school to the parking lot, please use designated crossing areas to limit exiting traffic interruptions.
- The entrance to the underclass parking area will remain closed and locked during dismissal.
- To make it easier to exit the parking lot, underclassmen are encouraged to drive toward the back of the lot and form a line in front of the stadium.
- Underclassmen will merge with Teachers, Staff, and Seniors who are exiting from the rear lots.
- All drivers will make their way to the main entrance to Patriot High School where the School Resource Officer (when available) will direct them safely onto Kettle Run Road.
Parents and Private Transport
- Parents and private transport will bypass the main entrance to Patriot High School and enter campus via the T. Clay Wood Elementary School entrance.
- Drivers will keep to the right and form two lines (center lane and right lane) as they approach Patriot High School.
- As drivers approach the entrance to the drop-off loop they should refrain from stopping directly in front of door 1; instead, proceed as far as possible to door 3 before stopping the vehicle and allowing their student to enter their vehicle. Using the entire curbline allows for more students to be picked up at a time.
- Once your student has entered your vehicle, safely continue through the drop-off loop and make a right-hand turn toward T. Clay Wood Elementary.
- Parents and private transport will exit the campus through the T. Clay Wood entrance.

After School Activities and Athletics
Activities: Parent Pick-up
Parents who pick up their students who have stayed after school for activities such as club meetings will pick up at door 1. Students will be directed to sit in either commons 1 or wait in the boat area at the main entrance of the school at 3:00 PM, unless they are still with a teacher, coach, or club sponsor. Individuals picking up students should not leave their vehicles unattended in the fire lane while waiting for their child.
Athletics: Parent Pick-up
Parents with student athletes can pick up their children at the rear of the school at door 20.
See the diagram below to identify this area

Varsity Football Games
Varsity Football games are highly attended at Patriot High School. To keep the flow of traffic manageable, specific traffic patterns are routinely set up to handle the flow of patrons attending the event. These routine patterns are subject to change depending upon estimated crowds prior to the event. Patriot High School asks that attendees remain vigilant as they operate their vehicles and observe traffic cones, signs, and pedestrians.
Below is an example diagram of a typical game day traffic pattern for arriving and leaving the event.
